Two interventions in one day

On February 21, 2021 (Sunday), at 4:35 pm, MRS received a call for assistance from the Emergency Medical Service Ohrid, in providing help to an injured boy in the area “Labino”, who due to carelessness and slipping, suffered a serious injury in the left knee. Due to the inability of the ambulance to access the scene of the accident, the Mountain Rescue Service alerted its volunteers, some of whom, fortunately, live in the immediate vicinity and were the first to arrive at the scene with a private boat. They also transferred the medical team, which immediately provided medical treatment to the injured boy for pain relief, while the other members of the MRS team arrived with specialized equipment for immobilization and safe transport. After complete immobilization, the injured person was transported by the boat to the EMS vehicle and transported to the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Traumatology “St. Erasmus” Ohrid, for further treatment. The action ended at 5:20 p.m.

An hour later, at 6:20 p.m. the Mountain Rescue Service SOS phone rang again. This time it was for a request to help in rescuing a cat. The cat climbed on a tree, at a height of about 15 meters and couldn’t come down for three days. A Mountain Rescue Service team was mobilized again and headed to the orchard, near the monastery of St. Naum. Around 8:00 pm managed to safely rescue the cat and to calm the worried owners.

The Ohrid Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service wishes a speedy recovery to the injured boy and happy moments for the owners of the cat.
