At 12:15 pm today, the Mountain Rescue Service received a call from a group Off-Road drivers, who asked help for a member of the group that had an accident and sustained serious injuries to his left thigh. We’ve located the place of the accident by GPS coordinates, after which a three-man crew from the MRS was mobilized, and was immediately sent to the place. After 30 minutes of off-road driving, the group was located. Despite the bad terrain conditions, the injured man was completely immobilized and transported safely to the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Traumatology “St. Erasmus”- Ohrid, for further treatment. The action ended at 14:30 pm with the team’s safe return to the Mountain Rescue Service center.
Due to the emergency caused by the Corona virus pandemic, the MRS team applied additional safeguards during the intervention. We take this opportunity to once again appeal to all mountain lovers to refrain from adventures and to stay home, protecting their health and the health of other Services that operate in emergencies. In order not to be repeated, please see the following link of our appeal that was published on March 25, 2020.
The Mountain Rescue Service is always ready to help in case of an accident, but in these difficult times for humanity, we urge you TO STAY HOME, which will help us.
Hoping for a speedy overcoming of the crisis and joint mountain friendships,
Ohrid Red Cross Mountain Rescue Service
